Another Trip To The Moon

Here’s one of my animated shorts created 14 years ago when I was attending Fitchburg State University (then known as Fitchburg State College). I believed all of my old student films had been lost to time but this one seems to have survived! This short was inspired by George Melies A Trip To The Moon from 1902, as well as the Smashing Pumpkins video for Tonight Tonight. It was created using colored printer paper, colored pencils, and an old scanner, and animated using key frames in Final Cut Pro 4. The music was made using an 8-bit plugin for Garageband and I remember it being very loud and grating when it was screened during the Visions film festival that the school hosted. I never like to revisit old works, but this one holds a special place in my heart as it helped me get my first job in New York City.

This was recently unearthed by the Communications Media department at Fitchburg State University and is now being screened on campus and on their Facebook page.
